Stress is a response to changes perceived as threatening; it is not exclusive to adults but can also be experienced by children. Attending a dental consultation is one of the situations that cause anxiety, especially in the pediatric population. The objective of this literature review is to gather scientific information to determine if pediatric dentistry consultation causes stress. Methodology: The search was conducted in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Elsevier, etc. A total of 22 relevant publications were selected; some articles are in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Also, keywords were used to search for articles. Result: The present study highlights the importance of pediatric dentists considering not only the physical condition of their patients but also their mental and emotional state. Conclusion: The professional, who knows how to manage positive or tolerable stress without falling into toxic stress and understands the child’s needs, will create a comfortable environment and provide more security and calm to the parents.
