Ítem Acceso Abierto Anteproyecto de un centro de capacitación y rehabilitación a partir de estrategias sensoriales para personas con discapacidad visual en Cuenca(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Lliguin Tigre, Bryan Marcelo; Borja Ortiz, Roberto Oswaldo; Quizhpe Campoverde, José David; 0150815579; 0106138670This research develops a preliminary architectural design for a Training and Rehabilitation Center for People with Visual Impairments in Cuenca, situated on a site of 4,897.98 m². The project arises from a sensory approach, identified as a response to the lack of inclusive spaces in the urban environment, revealed through an analysis of the historic center (within a 500 m radius) and the SONVA center ―a Visually impaired people's society of Azuay―. Strategies from references such as the Lighthouse and the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired are incorporated, highlighting tactile, acoustic, and olfactory elements that enhance orientation and autonomy. The proposal integrates varied materials, contrasting lighting, and intuitive circulation patterns. The methodology included surveys, regulatory analysis, and experimental journeys with blindfolds to understand the user experience. As a result, a functional and flexible space is proposed that fosters rehabilitation and training. It is concluded that sensory architecture, derived from an in-depth analysis of the environment and the users' needs, can improve the quality of life for people with visual impairments through spaces that serve as means of interaction, autonomy, and learning.
