Ítem Acceso Abierto Experiencias traumáticas asociadas a la adicción al alcohol en adultos emergentes.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Barrera Gia, Josseline Nicole; Narváez Pillco, Viviana Faviola; 0106750847Traumatic experiences are considered events that trigger fear and significant distress in the individual who experiences them, overwhelming their ability to cope. As a result, some individuals develop problematic substance use, specifically alcohol addiction, which becomes a coping mechanism. This literature review aims to analyze the relationship between traumatic experiences associated with alcohol addiction in emerging adults through an analysis of various scientific articles in high-impact databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed. The findings show that adverse events occurring more frequently at an early age, such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, are significantly related to the development of alcohol consumption in emerging adults, along with the presence of symptoms such as stress, anxiety, and dependence. The reviewed studies indicate that exposure to trauma and problematic alcohol consumption mostly show a positive correlation, meaning that the greater the number of traumatic experiences, the higher the risk of developing alcohol addiction. Therefore, being a complex issue, it requires a multifaceted approach, along with the integration of prevention strategies, psychotherapeutic treatment, and public policies aimed at reducing vulnerability in this population to mitigate the adverse effects that trauma can bring, promote more adaptive coping strategies, improve quality of life, and achieve a balance in overall well-being, including psychological, emotional, and social aspects.Ítem Acceso Abierto Relación entre el trastorno por consumo de sustancias y el deterioro de las funciones cognitivas en adolescentes: Revisión Sistemática.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Feijóo Valarezo, María Alejandra; Maldonado Astudillo, Ana Paula; Narváez Pillco, Viviana Faviola; 0705766772; 1726714262Introduction: Substance use in adolescents is considered a serious public health issue associated with impaired cognitive function. These impairments significantly impact various areas, including academic performance and social and emotional development, affecting the well-being of adolescents. Objective: To analyze the relationship between Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and impaired cognitive function in adolescents, considering the prevalence of impairment and sociodemographic factors. Method: A systematic review was conducted using a qualitative and descriptive approach based on the PRISMA method. The search included studies published in English and Spanish from the past five years. Databases such as Taylor & Francis, Web of Science, and Scopus were used, using MeSH and DeCS terms and Boolean operators. The NOS Scale was used to assess methodological quality and risk of bias. Results: The search showed 1,321 records obtained using the Rayyan tool, following inclusion and exclusion criteria. After analysis, 10 studies were selected for incorporation. It was found that adolescents with SUD have impaired memory, attention, and executive functions. Impairment varies depending on the substance consumed: alcohol, cannabis, crack cocaine, methamphetamines, and multiple substance use. Sociodemographic factors such as socioeconomic status, social context, age, gender, religion, frequency of use, mental health, sports, and educational level influence the severity of impairment of cognitive functions. Conclusion: There is a clear relationship between SUD and impaired cognitive function.
