Ítem Acceso Abierto Terapia asistida con animales de compañía en niños con TDAH e Hiperactividad.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Coronel Cobos, Andrés Elías; Arévalo Proaño, Claudia Carolina; 0105099956Introduction: Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a psychological alternative to traditional methods, where the use of companion animals helps children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to regularize their symptoms and have greater effectiveness. Objective: To analyze animal-assisted therapy as a psychological alternative in the treatment of children with ADHD. Methodology: The design was a qualitative and descriptive literature review. Results: AAT requires using various animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals, each presenting particular requirements and benefits. In addition, this type of alternative therapy is an effective complement to traditional therapies since it allows better adherence to treatment and its long-term results. Finally, the benefits provided by this assisted therapy are psychological, physical, and social. Conclusion: AAT provides positive benefits in children with ADHD, including proper emotional management, improved interpersonal relationships, and reduction in stress, anxiety, and hyperactivity.
