Ítem Acceso Abierto Comportamientos sedentarios y actividad física en jóvenes universitarios: Una revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Tenelema Ganzhi , Walter Ruben; Bravo Navarro, Wilson Hernando; 0302607494Physical activity in university students has gained relevance due to sedentary lifestyles; thus, this research aims to analyze physical activity and the most common sedentary behaviors in university students through a literature review. Methodology: The study adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach. A literature review was conducted using digital databases such as Redalyc, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Key search terms included sedentary behaviors and physical activity in university students. Only scientific articles published from 2015 onwards in Spanish, English, and Portuguese were considered, and 19 original articles were chosen for analysis. Results: The study identified relevant sedentary behaviors affecting university students, such as prolonged screen time and inadequate nutrition in a reclined position. However, the university students most affected are those in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Conclusions: University students' most common sedentary behaviors include prolonged sitting in classrooms or using various technological devices. Additionally, they do not engage in sufficient physical activity as recommended by the World Health Organization which is 150 minutes per week, leading to increased risks of cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and academic performance decline. Keywords: physical activity, sedentary behavior, behaviors, university students
