Uterine fibroids are the most common benign solid pelvic tumor in women and represent a significant social and health burden, affecting mainly during the reproductive age. Women with fibroids report symptoms that interfere with activities of daily living. Although there are several options for the management of this pathology, hysterectomy remains the definitive treatment; therefore, there is a growing demand for less invasive therapies that preserve the uterus and improve the quality of life, thus focusing the interest of this research on radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as a therapeutic alternative for fibroids, covering the benefits, complications and the role of this procedure in fertility. Seven studies were carefully analyzed under inclusion and exclusion criteria for development. The results demonstrate that RFA is a safe and effective procedure that significantly reduces symptoms, improves quality of life, reduces fibroid size, improves future fertility, and reduces surgical reoperation rates and adverse event
