Ítem Acceso Abierto Enfermedad de Peyronie y disfunción eréctil(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Coronel Argudo, Dayana Mishell; Pérez Ruiz, Ariadna; 0302879044; ., .A bibliographic review of Peyronie's disease and its association with erectile dysfunction was carried out since its prevalence is underdiagnosed. It is presented in adulthood through regional manifestations at the penile level, affecting its anatomical structure with the creation of fibromatous plaques in the tunica albuginea and abnormal curvature of the penis. Its timely diagnosis and treatment could reduce the risk of uncontrollable progression associated with complications. Objective To determine general aspects of Peyronie's disease and its association with erectile dysfunction, its clinical forms of presentation, diagnosis, and current therapeutic methods. Methodology A qualitative, investigative, descriptive research was carried out, focused on a bibliographic review by collecting relevant scientific information obtained from open-access scientific articles and restricted access articles requiring a monetary contribution to which access was obtained, analyzing updated information from medical journals. Conclusion Peyronie's disease presents various clinical manifestations and progression; depending on each individual, it is often associated with concomitant erectile dysfunction. Its etiology varies concerning the predisposing risk factors exposed to the subject in his life. Therefore, the therapeutic approach is individualized, and the severity of the pathology will determine the use of conservative treatment or invasive procedures to improve the patient's psychosexual quality of life.
