Its primary etiology is myofascial pain syndrome, characterized by myofascial trigger points in the muscle and fascia. This pathology produces pain in the lumbar area that may radiate to the buttocks, impairing functionality and quality of life. General Objective: To identify the treatment alternatives for low back pain of myofascial origin. Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. The scientific databases PubMed and ScienceDirect was used, selecting articles between 2018 and 2022, in English and Spanish; the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT enabled the formation of search algorithms with the selected keywords. Results: In the short term, dry needling is the most effective treatment, with a decrease in pain between 64% to 84%, improving the range of mobility; likewise, trigger points infiltrations present percentages similar to dry needling. In the long term, shock waves stand out, with a 30% improvement in the disability index in the fourth week. Conclusions: Dry needling is the most commonly used treatment since it can act specifically on trigger points without administering medication. Shock waves are an effective long-term treatment; in addition to medication and physiotherapy, myofascial low back pain condition can be resolved.
