At present, polytrauma is considered a pandemic due to its high prevalence worldwide, with a higher frequency rate in developing countries; it is currently a serious public health problem. The initial management of the polytraumatized patient is vital since it enables a quick and accurate clinical assessment of life-threatening injuries. Therefore, it was necessary to implement tools to evaluate this type of patient. The severity scales in polytraumatized patients were created to quantify the severity of their injuries, aiming to provide early diagnosis and treatment. Currently, there are several scales, so the most used ones will be analyzed here. Objective: To recognize the usefulness of the most commonly used scales as predictors of severity in polytraumatized patients in trauma centers worldwide. Methodology: It is a narrative study referring to scales used in trauma centers for patients with polytrauma and prognostic factor. The result is an extensive bibliographic review of research. Results: To find out the validity and identify the usefulness of prognostic scales for polytraumatized patients within the hospital center.
