- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoDisfunción ventricular en pacientes hipertensos(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Verdugo Tenesaca, Jessenia Elizabeth; Garcés Ortega, Juan Pablo; 0302691332; ., .Arterial hypertension is defined according to the American Heart Association in 2017 as systolic blood pressure (SBP) value 2: 130mmHg or diastolic blood pressure Background (DBP) 2:80mmHg and according to the European Society of Hypertension / European Society of Cardiology (ESH/ESC) in 2018 asan SBP value 2: 140mmhg and/or a DBP value 2:90mmHg. Arterial hypertension is present in a significant percentage ofpatients worldwide, causing about 8 million deaths per year, being the leading cause of mortality and morbidity, according to the World Health Organization. Toe present study investigated its relationship with diastolic and systolic ventricular dysfunction, one of its main consequences in the long term or even in the short and medium-term (1,2)- General Objective: This study aims to define the relationship between ventricular dysfunction and arterial hypertension. Methodology: A comprehensive literature analysis was performed usmg PUBMED, ELSEVIER, NCBI, SCIELO databases, among others, to identify all studies that investigated the prevalence of ventricular dysfunction in hypertensive patients. Results and conclusions: Twenty-nine studies were included in the analysis and it was concluded that there is a relationship between arterial hypertension and ventricul dysfunction, whether diastolic or systolic, with a higher prevalence and importance in terms of cardiovascular risk and morbidity and mortality of diastolic dysfunction.
