OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between bruxism and psychoemotional states through the DASS-21 and AASM scales in dental students of the Catholic University of Cuenca Azogues Campus. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From a population of 242 students (fifth to tenth cycle), a study sample of 161 participants was determined. The DASS-21 questionnaire was used to determine psychoemotional levels and AASM to establish the incidence of bruxism. Anonymization was performed, and the SPSS Statistics 27 program was used to obtain the results and relationship of variables. RESULTS: The results determined the incidence of bruxism at 84.47%, anxiety at 34.78%, depression at 18.01%, and stress at 17.39%. The relationship between bruxism with psychoemotional states (depression p=0.012 and stress p=0.020) was established, with male sex predominating (p<0.05) and with greater emphasis in the sixth, eighth, and ninth cycles with a value p<0.05. CONCLUSIONS: There was incidence presence of bruxism and psychoemotional states. A relationship was obtained between bruxism and conditions of depression, and stress, showing slight variations in sex and academic cycles.
