In some cases, it is the reason to apply some techniques to reduce it, as in the case of the Roux-in-Y gastric bypass, which is beneficial but can generate certain postoperative complications. Background: Currently in the United States there are 41.9% of obese people, while in Ecuador there is a total of 25.7%, of which 30.9% are women and 20.3% are men. Objective: To know the complications and treatments after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Methodology: A search in SciELO, PubMed, Medline, Science Direct, and Google Scholar was performed and a narrative bibliographic review was developed. Results: The application of some methods such as clinical control and observation of symptoms in people who underwent the Roux-en-Y technique allowed the diagnosis of some complications such as gastro-gastric fistula (Clavien-Dindo-III-IV) with 13.92%, anastomotic stenosis (CD-IIIa-IVb) with 5.06%, nutritional deficit (CD-IIIa-IVb) with 4.83%, internal bleeding (CD-I- II) with 4.34%, and suture leakage (CD I-IIIb) with 3.44%, which are currently treated with proton pump inhibitors, reoperation if necessary, enterotomy and endoscopy. Conclusions: It is essential to explain to the patient the benefits and possible complications after surgery and the treatments that can be applied to control them before the gastric bypass is performed.
