- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoCausas y consecuencias del consumo de alcohol en adolescentes en Latinoamérica.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Valdez Angamarca, Marcia L.; Mazón Avila, Juan P.; 0104616057The consumption of alcoholic beverages among Latin American adolescents is a social problem. It has been growing not only in this context but also globally. Objective: To analyze the causes and consequences of alcohol consumption among the adolescent population in Latin America. Methodology: The study design consisted of a literature review, integrating scientific bibliography subjected to a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope. Results: Various factors were analyzed, including genetics, environmental elements such as family and social influence, advertising on social networks and television, ease of access, and cultural acceptance. Regarding the consequences, physical, mental, and social causes were identified. Conclusions: The different countries in Latin America present a high prevalence of alcohol consumption rates during adolescence, representing a problem influenced by various causal factors; among the most important identified as a common factor in several studies included family influence and consumption normalization in a context without any restriction or consequence. Similarly, peers influence serves as a crucial connection between young individuals and alcohol. The diversity of consequences identified in this review is divided into three categories, from which it was possible to determine that the effects are manifested over the medium and long term, and the consequences occur between middle adulthood and older adulthood.
