The objective of this study is to investigate the different types of violence and the causes and effects of emotional dependence experienced by women in relationships. This research methodology was developed under a qualitative approach, with a descriptive literature review design, using digital databases such as Dialnet, Elsevier, Scielo, Redalyc, and Scopus. The results showed various types of physical, psychological, economic, and sexual violence. Likewise, it was identified that the causes of the development of emotional dependence lie in the upbringing, education, culture, customs, and traditions of the various classes and social groups; so, the consequences that can be observed are low self-esteem, feelings of guilt, fear, isolation, dependence, depression, anxiety, obsessive ideas, lack of concentration, sleep disorders, absence of leisure activities, constant vigilance, loss of identity and reality, and the consumption of psychoactive substances. In addition, various physical aggressions threaten the woman's integrity and life and violate her closest family and social environment.
