Reporte de un caso(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Tinoco Tacuri, Jailine Paulette; Vintimilla Coronel, Santiago Efraín; 0704785005Recent advances in dentistry allow the preservation of multi-rooted teeth that in the past were considered untreatable or simply extracted. Although technological advancement, the oral health professional’s clinical skills and work experience should be considered for the procedures to be entirely satisfactory. This article presents the case of a 54-year- old male patient with extensive coronary destruction and involvement of the palatal furcation of tooth 1.6. The patient required a conservative surgical procedure such as radectomy, which consists of extracting the most affected root, thus preserving the healthiest one. Before the surgical intervention, the patient maintained antibiotic prophylaxis, and after healing, the respective fixed prosthetic rehabilitation with post and crown was conducted. In this way, it was restored the functionality and tooth esthetic, hence achieving a better quality of life for the patient.
