To develop an augmented reality application in odontology for children 11 to 12 years of age in Cuenca, Ecuador. Materials and Methods: This study used a qualitative approach and descriptive research to analyze children's preferences for the activities in which they spend their time. The objective was to understand what augmented reality scenarios would be most entertaining and engaging for them. This allowed us to identify the key elements to design a practical, enjoyable, and engaging augmented reality experience for young users. Results: The literature review found that boys prefer heroes and action characters, while girls prefer social networks. Based on these preferences, augmented reality scenarios were designed using programs such as Unity 2021.3.10f1, Visual Studio Code, SDK Vuforia 10.12.3, and Blender 3.4.1 to achieve engaging and entertaining experiences for both groups. Conclusion: Collaborating with the Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Center (CIITT by its Spanish acronym) of the Catholic University of Cuenca, an augmented reality application was created for Android mobile devices based on the children's preferences. A virtual dental needle and syringe design was incorporated into the application.
