Ítem Acceso Abierto Agenesia del cuerpo calloso: reporte de un caso(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Sivisaca Lojano, Greys Nayeli; Jaramillo Álvarez, Christian; 1900464916Agenesis of the corpus callosum is defined as a congenital malformation characterized by partial or complete absence of the primary commissural fibers of the corpus callosum, which allow the connection between the cerebral hemispheres. Its etiology is uncertain since most cases are considered to be isolated incidents, thus requiring a detailed clinical history and appropriate imaging assessment with ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. Patients with this condition often exhibit intellectual or psychosocial deficiencies. Therefore, a case report study aimed to describe the clinical evolution of a patient diagnosed with agenesis of the corpus callosum through a critical analysis supported by available literature on the subject, selecting articles published within the last five years. The study involves an 11-year-old female patient who experienced developmental delay from the age of 5 months. A pediatric neurologist evaluated her and recommended a magnetic resonance imaging scan, revealing the absence of the corpus callosum and dysmorphic lateral ventricles with loss of the septum pellucidum. The patient was diagnosed at the age of 3 years and received treatment consisting of physical and language therapies
