The aim of this research is to establish the relationship between self-esteem and academic performance in school children. The methodology applied was the search for studies with empirical evidence criteria through specific bibliographic databases such as Dialnet, Science Direct, SciELO, Redaly, Scopus, and ProQuest, selecting relevant studies in different languages, such as Spanish and English, using exclusion criteria to limit the studies. The results showed a relationship between self-esteem and academic performance in school children, indicating that positive or negative self-esteem could modify the children’s academic performance, inferring factors such as age, gender, school environment, family, motivation, support from caregivers, teachers, and socioeconomic level.
