Ítem Solo Metadatos Impacto de Saccharomyces cerevisiae sobre el sistema inmunitario en cerdos durante la etapa destete-finalización(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Siavichay Cuzco, Alba Mariela; Cuenca Condoy, Mercy del Cisne; 0106993421The present study was carried out to evaluate the impact of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the immune system, the immune response, and the hematological profile of pigs during the growth-finishing stage; for this purpose, 45 weaned pigs of 56 days of age with an average weight of 17. 38 kilograms, distributed in a completely randomized design; the treatments to be evaluated were T0 (Control), T1 (0.5% S. cerevisiae), and T2 (1% S. cerevisiae), each with three replicates and five experimental units. The variables evaluated were: production parameters (weekly weight, feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion), serum immunoglobulin levels (IgA, IgG, IgM), hematological profile, and weight of the immune system organs (thymus, spleen, tonsils, mesenteric lymph node). The results obtained showed that the highest weekly weight was reached at T0; the hematological profile of the pigs was not affected, finding these values within normal ranges; the levels of serum immunoglobulins were positively affected with the inclusion of S. cerevisiae at 0.5 and 1%, on IgA and IgG; and finally, tonsil and spleen weight increased with the addition of 0.5%, and thymus and mesenteric lymph node with the inclusion of 1% S. cerevisiae. In conclusion, the addition of 0.5 and 1% of the probiotic does not have a positive impact on production parameters, hematological profile; however, it improves immunoglobulin levels and the weight of the organs of the immune system in swine.
