This investigation addressed the following research questions: prevalence of cranioencephalic trauma in pediatric patients, complications of traumatic brain injury, epidemiological clinical characteristics of cranioencephalic trauma, therapeutic approach in traumatic brain injury, and nursing care in cranioencephalic trauma in pediatric patients. Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out with inclusion and exclusion criteria of original articles. Results: TBI is more prevalent in developed countries due to population density; among the complications are neuropsychological damage and deficits in psychomotor development. The most significant clinical manifestation is elevated intracranial pressure. Treatment depends on the severity and the diagnosis; this can go from administering medications to placing an endotracheal tube; in the same way, nursing care is oriented to the comprehensive care of the patient for optimal recovery. Conclusion: The most common causes linked to this pathology are accidents or abuse (shaken child syndrome); this type of patient requires more specialized procedures and care because if they are not treated correctly, neurological complications may affect their life style and delay their recovery. Keywords: prevalence, brain trauma, nursing care, clinical characteristics, pediatric.
