Ítem Acceso Abierto Diagnóstico oportuno en atresia de vías biliares como mejor pronóstico de vida. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Sacoto Blondet, Mirka Yokasta; Gárate Sanmartín, Andrés Fernando; 1314079359; ., .Background: Biliary atresia is an idiopathic and inflammatory disease affecting the extrahepatic biliary tract in newborns. It was described for the first time in 1817. It is characterized by prolonged jaundice, hepatomegaly, and acholia, defined as the primary clinical manifestations becoming the first indication for transplantation in pediatric patients. Delayed diagnosis is the biggest obstacle to treatment, based on restoring biliary drainage. Therefore, knowing the most important symptoms, signs, and diagnostic tools for early detection is imperative. Objective: To support early diagnosis of biliary tract atresia as a more pratical survival prognostic. Methods: A systematic review was performed, with a qualitative methodological approach and descriptive scope, by searching scientific articles from different databases using the PRISMA method. Results: For patients with persistent symptoms beyond 90 days, the probability of the Kasai procedure being successful is low, so the survival rate is no more than two years. Discussion: There is little evidence in the country, so there is no reliable data about this condition in Ecuador. Conclusions: Early diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment and a rise in the survival rate to reduce transplants by effectively restoring bile flow and native liver function.
