Ítem Embargo Canino versus premolar. Reporte de caso(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Romero Rodas, Michelle Mariana; Palacios Vivar, Diego Esteban; 0106449465The canines are indispensable dental pieces in the dental arch and essential in occlusion. Their retention is a frequent problem in orthodontic clinical practice. The upper canines are one of the last teeth to erupt, and their space in the dental arch can be compromised during eruption. Case report: An 18-year-old male patient attends the clinic for a lower canine traction retreatment, suffering from sequelae of previous treatments in which a first premolar is affected. The clinical examination showed the presence of fixed metallic orthodontics, gingival recession grade III movement of tooth 4.4, and a metallic chain at the bottom of the vestibule. As a complication of the case, a periapical radiolucent zone of the first premolar, which resembles a supernumerary tooth near the clinical crown, and a curved shape of the root of the retained canine can be observed radiographically.
