The incidence of acute renal injury secondary to rhabdomyolysis caused by a virus is 13-50 %, with a mortality of 3.4 %. A 22-year-old male patient presented here showing no critical pathological history and suffered viral symptoms 15 days before admission, accompanied by myalgias, arthralgias, and foamy urine. After interrogation and paraclinical tests, he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis with renal complications requiring hemodialysis; vasculitis and post-streptococcal ARF were ruled out due to non-significant results; a biopsy was taken showing myoglobin casts and interstitial fibrosis grade II; the patient was discharged with favorable evolution and good prognosis with good renal function. The study uses a case report to describe rhabdomyolysis associated with the influenza virus. The methodology used is a descriptive study of clinical case type; the results are compared with cases reported in scientific databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Elsevier, and Science Direct. It is concluded that rhabdomyolysis secondary to the influenza virus is very infrequent; the pathogenesis is not very clear; the cases published in scientific journals are scarce, and in severe cases of rhabdomyolysis dialytic therapy is necessary; the evolution and prognosis are reasonable, it has been demonstrated that patients have a complete or almost complete recovery of renal function.
