Surgical wound infection is currently an important cause of morbidity and mortality, increasing hospitalization time and occurring in 1.46 to 10% of patients undergoing the procedure worldwide. Objective: To determine the incidence, microbiological variables, and the main factors associated with the appearance of surgical wound infections after cesarean section. Method: It was conducted by a systemic review of scientific articles from digital libraries such as PubMed and Google Scholar organized through the Zotero bibliographic manager. Results: Through the systemic reading of scientific articles, it was determined that in New Zealand, there was an incidence of 5.20%, in Poland 0.95%, and in the United Kingdom 0.6%. In Sub-Saharan African countries, 10.3%; in Ethiopia, 9.72%; Sierra Leone, 10.9% in Brazil, 2.92%; Colombia, 0.33% and Peru, 2.69%. In Ecuador, 4.98%, S.
