To evaluate natural and traditional toothpaste in vitro antimicrobial effect on oral microorganisms. Methods: An experimental in vitro study was conducted; the sample consisted of three bacterial strains, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, and E. faecalis. Two kinds of toothpaste were selected, one based on natural extracts, Kinti, and the other based on exclusively chemical components, Colgate®. Thirty-six petri dishes were seeded with Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) and Mueller Hinton Agar with 5% blood (MHAB). Antimicrobial activity was determined using the Kirby- Bauer disk diffusion method; the samples were incubated at 36°C ± 1 for 24h for subsequent measurement of inhibition halos. Results: It was shown that the antimicrobial efficacy of Kinti toothpaste in an average of the three replicates formed inhibition halos on P. aeruginosa in the direct supernatant of 9 mm and the natural paste concentrate of 11 mm. However, against S. aureus and E. faecalis, it generated efficacy only in the straightforward paste concentrate by forming 11 mm and 10 mm halos. Colgate® toothpaste, on the other hand, included inhibition halos of 8 mm in the direct supernatant and 11 mm in the straightforward paste concentrate against P. aeruginosa, against S. aureus 17 mm and E. faecalis 10 mm. Conclusion: The comparison between the two kinds of toothpaste showed that Colgate® toothpaste had greater antimicrobial efficacy than Kinti toothpaste.
