Ítem Acceso Abierto Características de la competencia social de la sonrisa percibida por adultos, Macas-Ecuador 2021.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Quito Quito, Jennifer Alejandra; Villavicencio Caparó, Ebingen; 0105604573Objective: To determine the characteristics of the social competence of the smile perceived by adults in the city of Macas during 2021. Materials and methods: A comparative study was used between two smiles, the first with a gingival exposure of 4mm and a wide buccal corridor, and the second with a gingival exposure of 1mm and no buccal corridor. A quantitative methodology was applied with a cross-sectional descriptive design where the sample size was 402 persons. Results: The predominant group was young adults aged 18 to 44, representing 83.33% of the sample. Similarly, when comparing both smiles there was a better acceptance of smile 2 averaging 8.2 points on a scale of 1 to 10, and a standard deviation equivalent to 19.5% of the mean value, while in smile 1 the average acceptance value was 7.3 and a standard deviation representing 30% of the mean value. Both smiles are associated with the transmission of the happy state, smile 1 with 49.3% and smile 2 with 49%. Smile 2 is related to a very successful person, while smile 1 is generally associated with moderate success. Conclusion: The smile with 1mm gingival exposure and no buccal corridor is more attractive than the smile with 4mm gingival exposure and a wide buccal corridor
