Ítem Acceso Abierto Repercusiones psicológicas en familias migrantes.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Peralta Villalta, Pamela; Mazón Ávila, Juan; 0106146921Introduction: The International Organization for Migration defines migration as the movement of people away from their usual residence. This process has become a significant issue, having a substantial impact on the mental health of individuals and their families. Objective: To establish the psychological repercussions related to migrant families. Methodology: A literature review was used as the research design, adopting a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope. The information was obtained from digital databases provided by the Catholic University of Cuenca library, such as Taylor & Francis, Web of Science, ProQuest + PRISMA, Redalyc, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Results: The prevalent psychological repercussions within the study population were symptoms of depression and anxiety, along with feelings of loneliness and difficulty in adapting adequately to their new reality. Likewise, family functionality has been disrupted as each member’s roles have changed, and intrafamily relationships have weakened, with a lack of adequate communication and an inability to establish stable parenting for their children. Conclusions: The psychological repercussions that arise in families after a migration process are varied; depression, anxiety, and stress have been identified as some of the most prevalent consequences in this population. Furthermore, concerning family functionality, the change in roles and the disorganization within the family unit have directly affected family functionality and its proper development.
