The objective of the study was to determine the self-care of diabetic patients treated at the José Carrasco Arteaga Specialty Hospital. Cuenca September 2018 - February 2019. Methodology: A quantitative study was carried out. cross-sectional description. The sample consisted of 108 patients from the Diabetic Club. as technique A survey prepared by the researchers was used according to the variables of the study topic. For the analysis of the information, Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS were used; where are the frequencies and percentages. Results: 68.5% are older than 65 years with a mean of 68 ± 9.9 and the limits between 41 to 87 years, 59.3% are female; 71.3% reside in the urban area, 50% with primary education; 75.9% perform physical activity, of which 62.8% walk; 36.1% have adequate foot hygiene; and 78.7% consume a mixed diet. Conclusions: Diabetics with greater self-care are older adults and the physical activity they perform is walking
