Ítem Solo Metadatos Corrección de mordida abierta anterior mediante TADS, presentación de un caso clínico(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Orellana Celi, Doris Carolina; Alvarado Cordero, Alberto Leoncio; 0107287385Anterior open bite is a facial disorder defined as the lack of closing of the anterior teeth; there is no contact between the anterior dentition of the upper arch with the anterior dentition of the lower arch. A female patient in her forties attended the dentist's office with an anterior open bite. On clinical examination, she presented an anterior open bite (underjet) of -13 mm, a bilateral class III molar, dental agenesis of tooth 2.2, gingival recession of tooth 2.1, and dental mobility grade 1 of tooth 2.1. Initial cephalometric findings indicate skeletal Class III, dentoalveolar biprotrusion and dental proinclination, and increased lower facial height. The objective of the treatment was to correct the anterior open bite by orthodontics with the use of micro-implants for the intrusion of the posterior area and correcting the open bite, in addition to applying a technique in which we can control and avoid recurrence in the open bite and the molar and canine type after correction. This clinical case is a successful treatment without needing orthognathic surgery to correct the anterior open bite with a maxillary descent technique. A partial glossectomy was performed surgically on the tongue to reduce its size. Facial and oral esthetics are improved, and speech functionality is optimized.
