- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoManejo actual de las complicaciones tardías de la pancreatitis aguda(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Orellana Calle, Ghilda Jessenia; Urgilés Rivas, Marco Vinicio; 0301826293The current management of late complications of acute pancreatitis constitutes a real challenge, whether accompanied by a bacterial infection or not. These complications include pancreatic pseudocysts and walled-off pancreatic necrosis, with an incidence of 6% - 18.5% per 100,000 inhabitants. The present approach is stepped, with specific indications based on the availability of hospital resources. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the current management of late complications of acute pancreatitis. Methodology: A qualitative descriptive literature review was conducted. High-impact articles from PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo, Dialnet, and Scopus were included. Data were thoroughly reviewed, generating information on the topic and demonstrating its relevance in the medical field. Results: The management of complications is set up, starting with a conservative approach to content extraction. The management of pancreatic pseudocysts and walled-off pancreatic necrosis depends on multiple factors such as size, percentage of necrosis, association with infection, and the availability of resources in hospital centers. Conclusions: Endoscopic drainage is the first-line treatment for pancreatic pseudocysts and walled-off pancreatic necrosis as long as they are sterile due to their favorable evolution, less costly, and shorter hospital stay. However, in infected cases, the approach changes as it is necessary to eliminate the infected tissue. Laparoscopic intervention is superior to other techniques in necrosectomy.
