Etiologically it is considered multifactorial; It is classified by grades I, II and III requiring different types of treatments. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this bibliographic review was to determine the most relevant and present pathological clinical manifestations in cases of stomatitis in patients with removable prostheses by means of the bibliographic review. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The applied methodology was a bibliographic review making the respective filter according to the topic; focusing on causes, most predisposing factors and a well-founded research that allowed generating prevention and treatment protocols. RESULTS: The results obtained were that the female gender has a greater predisposition to suffer stomatitis with 38.9%, continuing with the residual plaque that triggers this pathology with 27.8%, on the other hand, C. albicans with 25.7% is the most relevant strain and finally 22.2% recommend acrylic as the ideal coating. CONCLUSIONS: The appearance or generation of subprosthetic stomatitis occurs in the vast majority due to poor hygiene caused by ignorance, it is emphasized to inform patients more effectively about the care they should apply; This information should not go unnoticed, since the omission can trigger from stomatitis to other types of pathologies.
