Infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause of this type of cancer. Vaccination against HPV is an effective strategy to prevent infection and, therefore, cervical cancer. Methodology: A bibliographic review of studies and scientific publications on HPV vaccination and its impact on the prevention of cervical cancer was carried out. The different types of vaccines available, their efficacy and safety, as well as the obstacles to their implementation in the population were analyzed. Results: HPV vaccination is highly effective in preventing infection and the development of precancerous lesions and cervical cancer. There are different types of vaccines available, all of them safe and well-tolerated. However, the implementation of vaccination programs in the population faces various obstacles, such as lack of information and vaccine hesitancy. Conclusion: HPV vaccination is an effective strategy to prevent cervical cancer and should be promoted and accessible to the entire population. It is necessary to address the obstacles to its implementation and improve information and education about the importance of vaccination.
