- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoCausas de divorcio y efectos en niños de latinoamerica: revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Heredia Inguil, Jennifer Alexandra; Moscoso Rodríguez, Christian Andrés; 0305008505-6This research considers the Latin American context to analyze the causes that motivate parental divorce and the effects it produces in the children's lives. For this purpose, scientific articles consulted in databases of indexed journals were reviewed. The research was limited to data published in the last 10 years and in Spanish. No restrictions were made on the type of study. The abstracts and, if necessary, the full articles were reviewed. Finally, those that included theoretical approaches to the causes, consequences, and recommendations for parental divorce in Latin America were selected. The main causes are infidelity, violence, abandonment of the home, serious threats, attempts on the spouse's life, involvement of the other spouse or children in illegal activities, and addictive behavior. Guilt further undermines the nuclear relationship, especially of the convicted spouse with respect to the children. The consequences experienced by the latter depend on the new family dynamics and the coping mechanisms they adapt to this process, as well as the support they receive and the assistance they obtain to avoid re-victimization. In conclusion, the causes of divorce are diverse and are mainly motivated by dissatisfaction, infidelity, violence, lack of support, and poor communication. The main consequences of divorce on young children are anxiety, deterioration in the socialization process, learning problems, and poor academic performance, especially when the divorce and the parental relationship were conflictive.
