Ítem Acceso Abierto Manejo de ostomías por el personal de enfermería del hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, mayo-diciembre 2018(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2019) Montero Saula, Freddy Vicente; Cordero Zumba, Nancy Beatríz; 0302281548; ., .The ostomy is surgical procedure highly complex it will be done by a specialized healthcare professional, it is important to emphasize that the participation of nursing professionals since it takes fundamental role for the elaboration of care plan, as well as in the process of adaptation in their new lifestyle it is very important to have the professionals properly trained to be able to respond adequately to this health problem. OBJECTIVE: Determine the degree of knowledge in relation to the management of ostomy by the nursing staff the hospital “Jose Carrasco Arteaga”. METHODOLOGY: Quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional cohort, for the collection of information an evaluative survey and an observation form are applied, a nursing staff, we worked with a total universe of 207 nursing professionals who signed informed consent for their participation, they then filled out the evaluation survey and then underwent observation. RESULTS: It was evidenced that 67% of the total of the participants has an average of good, 22% is deficient, and only an excellent 11%; the observation sheet showed that its average is good with an equivalent 65%, then a partial of very good with an approximate of 22% and 10% is excellent, it is worth mentioning that there was a regular 3%. CONCLUSION: The management that is carried out in relation to the ostomies in the health house mentioned is basic, the parameters established for the healing of a normal wound are met, this care is not directed to the stoma in its entirety; it is recommended to standardize nursing care protocols to provide quality care based on a universal guide, in addition to the continuous updating of knowledge that must be proportional to professional development.
