Ítem Acceso Abierto Parto humanizado en la medicina occidental(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Mogrovejo Valladarez , Jonnathan Andres; Cruz Gavilanes , Tania Magdalena; 0106697006Introduction: Humanized childbirth in Western medicine emerged as a woman-centered approach, prioritizing her emotional and physical wellness during birth. The relevance of this theme was the need to improve the maternal experience, addressing concerns about unnecessary interventions and promoting a respectful approach to motherhood. General objective: This study aimed to analyze humanized childbirth in Western medicine. Methodology: A deep review of the scientific literature was conducted, encompassing case studies, systematic reviews, and clinical trials studying the implementation of humanized childbirth in Western medical settings. The search was conducted in digital databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Taylor & Francis, taking advantage of the resources available in the Catholic University of Cuenca library. Relevant studies published over a period of 5 years since 2018 were included and those written in Spanish and English were considered. Results: Humanized birth focuses on women during childbirth, promoting autonomy and wellness. Over time, the approach to childbirth has evolved towards a more humanized one, highlighting the respect and participation of women. Integrating elements of humanized childbirth into Western medicine seeks to balance medical safety with woman-centered care, supported by theories of humanization and reproductive rights. Although there are challenges, strategies have been developed to improve the quality of care, such as training of medical staff and prenatal education.
