Due to the saturation of the historic center and the difficulty to find vacant land, it is proposed to study the rehabilitation of the parking lot of the old “Banco del Azuay” building in Cuenca. This intervention seeks to preserve the architectural heritage and improve the use of urban space. The methodology will be descriptive, including case studies. In addition, a technical evaluation of the intervention strategies applied in historical contexts will be conducted. The revitalization of these spaces not only enriches the authenticity of historical buildings but also offers functional and modern environments for the city. The expected results include improved social cohesion by generating spaces for interaction and economic benefits derived from increased commercial and tourist activity. The study is justified by the need to preserve Cuenca’s cultural and architectural legacy and its positive impact on citizens' quality of life. The general objective is to analyze effective urban intervention strategies in historic centers and obtain tools to apply them appropriately in similar contexts. The research will focus on the Cuenca City Hall parking lot, and the results will provide valuable knowledge for future revitalization projects that will benefit the community socially and economically.
