It is essential to mention that initially schizophrenia was believed to be a mental illness whose only cause was due to genetic factors. After that, different studies mention that the risk and early incidence are also based on different situations of psychosocial problems that have gained more strength in recent years. This research aimed to determine the psychosocial factors that lead to the early appearance of schizophrenia in adolescents in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile and to determine its incidence according to sex and early age of onset. The research was descriptive in scope, of bibliographic type. The search in databases belonged to SciELO, Redalyc, Dialnet, and PubMed, using the keywords: "Schizophrenia," "Adolescents," and "psychosocial factors." It was found that the psychosocial factors that affect the early onset of schizophrenia range from aspects of intrafamily conflicts, situations that generate stress and trauma, confinement, substance use —such as alcohol, cocaine, and most predominantly, cannabis— and maintaining a daily relationship with a person suffering from the disorder -in the case of a family member-. Male sex and late adolescence also predominated. The results of studies based on schizophrenia and psychosocial aspects are closely related, according to the discussion, based on studies conducted in other countries with different cultures, societies, and beliefs.
