Ítem Acceso Abierto La danza como estrategia de desarrollo psicomotor en niños: revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Mercado Jaramillo, Pablo David; González, Nanci de la Nube; 0106753643Abstract Psychomotor development in children is an essential part of the growth stage, enabling the development of motor coordination, psychosocial, and artistic skills. Dance is one of the activities that, due to its characteristics, can support this task. This study aims to analyze the influence of dance on psychomotor development in children through a literature review to observe which fine or gross motor skills develop better in children. The methodology is analytical with a qualitative approach, considering the cognitive and motor processes in children associated with dance. The following criteria were used for this research: keyword search in scientific databases, such as Scopus, Redalyc, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Inclusion criteria included scientific articles, theses, open-access documents in English and Spanish, published between 2016 and 2025. Exclusion criteria included studies published before 2016, with restricted access, and those that did not contain the complete research variables. The results indicate that dance significantly contributes to psychomotor development in functions associated with coordination, laterality, body and gestural expression, intellectual and sensory development. In conclusion, dance offers benefits for children’s psychomotor skills, contributes to the development of self-awareness and social skills, and generates skills that enable learning processes to help each child's cognitive structure.
