Revisión bibliográfica.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Mendieta Pucha, Thalia M.; Peña Campos, Daniella N.; Rodríguez Reyes, María J.; 1900726272; 0929688778Nowadays, there has been an increase in the use of technology in the health field, including virtual reality (VR), which has been introduced into clinical practice to meet the population’s needs. Objectives: To investigate, through a literature review, the use of virtual reality in the intervention in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, which is characterized by difficulties in communication and socialization, developmental impairments, problems in self-maintenance, socio-emotional reciprocity, and understanding of relationships. Materials and methods: The search for articles was carried out in the digital databases of the Catholic University of Cuenca, such as SciELO, Redalyc, SpringerLink, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Dialnet. Conclusions: Various studies indicate that the application of VR (Unity3D and Oculus as the most used) is favorable for the intervention in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In the case of social skills training, it was found that there are benefits in developing spontaneous conversations, which influence expression and socio-emotional reciprocity. Similarly, in the area of emotions, there are improvements in their expression and regulation, all within a safe and controlled environment.
