Revisión de literatura.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Marin Ponce, Julia Estefania; Ramos Montiel, Ronald Roossevelt; 0106054893Introduction: Gender equity relevance in scientific research is directly related to the female gender, considering traditional education based on patriarchal prejudices and stereotypes or women's societal roles. Unfortunately, these factors have been dragging on for a long time. Objective: To determine the existence of gender equity in interceptive orthodontic scientific publications of worldwide impact. Materials and Methods: A literature review was conducted through an electronic search in several databases such as PubMed, Lilacs, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Ovid, Google Academic, Dialnet, ProQuest, Pesquisa, Epistemonikos, Taylor & Francis, Web of Science, applying inclusion and exclusion filters. Results: The first screening was performed, leaving 2174 articles; 209 were eliminated from the duplicate literature. After checking all records, 2075 studies that did not meet the selection criteria were excluded, resulting in 215 pieces suitable for this literature review. Conclusion: The current reality identifies that there is no gender equity in scientific publications on interceptive orthodontics with worldwide impact since scientific publications by male authors and co-authors predominate; Thus, at the global level, according to gender parity, it is possible to observe that in countries such as China, Brazil, India, and the United Kingdom, there was a high degree of gender parity. In contrast, the other countries presented low gender parity, with Switzerland and Japan standing out in this group; on the other hand, the heavy and little valued work of financing for the realization of the studies was evidenced with greater frequency in the female gender.
