Ítem Acceso Abierto Inmunoviroterapia oncolítica con herpes virus simple tipo I en tumores cerebrales malignos(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Maldonado Guamarrigra, Lenin Patricio; Ramírez Portilla, Cristian Carlos; 0150370542Preclinical and clinical trials with oncolytic viruses for the treatment of difficult-to-manage solid tumours, such as brain tumours, have proved better than conventional treatments. Particularly for glioblastoma, a brain tumour with poor prognosis and treatment, different variants of herpesvirus simplex type I are investigated and used to improve long-term survival. Objective: to describe oncolytic immunovirotherapy with herpesvirus simplex virus type 1 as an immune and lytic disruptive agent in brain malignancies. Method: the research is a comprehensive review of articles published between 2013 and 2022, using the PICO strategy that integrated the research question. The search for information was performed from Pubmed and ScienceDirect data sources, using descriptors and the Boolean operators AND and OR. Results: Herpes simplex virus type I (HSV) confers cognate particularities for cancer cell killing and creates innate and adaptive immunity against tumour cells in childhood and adult brain cancers
