Objective: To evaluate the self-perception of the nursing role in primary health care (PHC) in Déleg Canton, July - October 2022. Methodology: Qualitative-quantitative study, descriptive and grounded theory type, through a semi-structured interview, where information was collected from ten nursing professionals in PHC. Results: Among the sociodemographic data, 100% of the participating population is female, with an age range from 30 to 58 years and an average of 47.8; in terms of years of service, the content goes from 7 to 34 years with an average of 15.6 years; in the level of education, 70% hold a third level degree and 30% a fourth level degree. The self-perception of the role of nursing functions in PHC among the staff is optimal and satisfactory because there is a good relationship among colleagues, providing quality care to patients and testing their theoretical and practical knowledge. Conclusion: Self-perception within the nursing role in PHC allows us to improve the quality of care, prioritizing intra and extra-mural activities.
