Revisión Sistemática”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Méndez Carangui, Marjorie Emperatriz; Saldaña Tinizhañay, Jorge Eduardo; Godoy Durán, Elvia Narcisa; 0302317391; 0302886429; ., .Introduction: Cesarean section is a procedure where an incision is made in the abdominal wall and uterus to remove the fetus. WHO states that the main factors for this process are pelvic presentation, twin pregnancy, lack of labor progress, preeclampsia-eclampsia, and unspecified fetal and maternal complications. Objective: To describe the factors associated with cesarean section through a systematic review. Methodology: A non-experimental descriptive systematic review was conducted by selecting scientific articles from databases such as PubMed, LILACS, Redalyc Scopus, Google Scholar, and SciELO, among others. Results: From 180 articles reviewed, 20 met the inclusion criteria. Among the factors that influence a surgical procedure are if the pregnant woman’s age is over 35 years if the patient had a previous cesarean, presents cephalopelvic disproportions, and failure in the labor progression. Finally, among the post-cesarean complications is uterine hypotonia which presented the highest percentage in several studies analyzed. Conclusions: The rate of cesarean sections in recent years has increased, surpassing the WHO guidelines. It is performed more frequently in Latin American countries.
