Revisión de la literatura(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Lozano Rodríguez, María Karina; Aguilar Maldonado, José David; 0106014616; ., .OBJETIVE: The objective of this research was to determine the updated clinical characteristics of oral lesions in adults and older adults. MATETIALS AND METHODS: An analytical-descriptive methodology was applied with a cross-sectional approach, oriented to studies that determine the relationship between oral lesions and psychological disorders using a critical and reflective literature review. RESULTS: There is a high prevalence of oral lesions in adults and senior citizens with psychological disorders, patients with stress or depression are prone to have cavities or gingivitis problems, while people with schizophrenia, dementia or bipolar problems have conditions such as oral candidiasis, oral lichen planus, and tooth decay are also frequent. CONCLUSIONS: The close relationship between oral lesions and psychological disorders highlights the need to establish greater control of oral health in adults and older adults with these disorders since this control can help to improve their condition or quality of life.
