For that reason, this research aimed to identify the prevalence and factors associated with tobacco use in adolescents through a systematic revision of scientific literature. A descriptive-narrative methodology was applied to online articles using the PRISMA method, along with the utilization of the Mendeley databases management system, that permitted the achieving of publications in English and Spanish over the past five years, selecting 20 articles for the discussion. The results identified that the prevalence of 21.4% concerning influencing factors are: emotional, social, family, and knowledge about smoking. It is concluded that the influencing factors were emotional aspects such as feelings of loneliness, stress, or depression. For the social factor, such aspects as being exposed to tobacco consumption by teachers at the school facilities, low self-confidence to refuse offers to smoke from friends, and absence of restrictions in the sale of cigarettes to adolescents. In the family factor was the relation between tobacco- consuming adults in the home; the offer of tobacco products by masculine family members. As to the factor of knowledge about smoking was influenced by the low educational level of adolescents and their parents. Keywords: prevalence, associated factors, tobacco, adolescents.
