Reporte de caso(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Llivicura Sucuzhañay, Javier Armando; Mejía Campoverde, Lauro Hernán; 0302305560Background: The hydatidiform mole is a pre-malignant histological anomaly originating from the formation of abnormal tissue during pregnancy, which under normal conditions ends in the formation of the placenta. Its variants include complete and partial moles, and its treatment is typically through curettage. However, hysterectomy, of which few cases have been reported, has limited indications for disease management. Case description: A 47-year-old female patient, married, presented with symptoms of abdominal pain localized in the hypogastrium of intensity 6/10, progressively developing over 2 weeks. She reported the pain as colicky with periods of exacerbation and remission. In the last 8 hours, the pain increased to 9/10 in colicky type, radiating to the pelvic region, leading her to seek medical attention at a health unit where, after evaluation, it was decided to refer her to a specialized center. Conclusions: The complete hydatidiform mole is a low-incidence pathology, with variable clinical presentation that often resembles a normal pregnancy. Therefore, its diagnosis and treatment must constitute adequate management. In the face of a suspected molar pregnancy, it is essential to approach the case in accordance with management protocols. High diagnostic suspicion is crucial to avoid long-term complications, which will depend on the delay in diagnosis. It is important to develop diagnostic protocols for therapeutic approach and surgical recovery
