Ítem Solo Metadatos Análisis bioético sobre la legalidad de muerte asistida en el Ecuador(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Leon Pineda, Camila Fernanda; Mercado González, Andrés Felipe; 0107426579Abstract: The legality of assisted death is controversial in the world due to bioethical aspects. In countries like Luxembourg, Canada where euthanasia has been approved, generating positive aspects in the quality of life of the patient, however, there are negative aspects Such as the abandonment of palliative options. The main objective is to describe the various bioethical approaches in favor of and against assisted death in Ecuador. This article is a descriptive bibliographic review, gathering information from the last 5 years use of databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, and MedRxiv. Addressing bioethical approaches in favor of assisted death; Based on the importance of definitively calming the patient's symptoms, as well as providing quality of life, however, it is discussed that the effects of legality in the long term are prone to medical dehumanization. The Integral Penal Code of Ecuador describes ambiguous laws for and against assisted death, with legal loopholes that do not allow their application in the health system. Although the approaches for and against Euthanasia have solid arguments, the decision must be adapted to the context of the patient and the health system.
