Ítem Acceso Abierto La obesidad como factor de riesgo en la severidad del covid 19: Una revisión sistemática.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca, 2022) Lema Guaman, Jenny Susana; Espadero, Rosa Gabriela; 175012800-9Obesity and COVID-19 are two serious health problems that affect the population worldwide. This research aims to carry out a bibliographic analysis from scientific sources on obesity as a risk factor in the COVID-19 severity. A systematic literature review was conducted using descriptive-narrative research. A bibliographic search was also included using filters such as publications from 2018- 2022 in Spanish and English, keywords and DeCS from pages such as Scopus, SciELO, Dialnet, PubMed, and Web of Science. The following sources, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library, and Virtual Library UCACUE, were also used. After analyzing the 14 articles, it was found that obesity is a main risk factor in the COVID-19 severity because obese patients are more likely to be hospitalized. They need to be admitted to intensive care units (ICU), require invasive mechanical ventilation therapy (IMV), have a higher risk of developing severe lung disease, greater immune system involvement and a high mortality rate. Therefore, it was proved that obesity is a predominant risk factor in the COVID-19 severity. Keywords: obesity, risk, factor, severity, covid-19.
