- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEnfermedades no transmisibles y COVID-19: revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Lema Guallpa, Petrona del Rocío; Merchán Coronel, María Graciela; 0301759817; ., .Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a negative impact on preventing and treating non-communicable diseases (NCDs) has been observed due to the interruption of medical care and the limitation in applying programs focused on prevention. Objective: To analyze the relationship of non-communicable diseases as a factor associated with COVID-19. Methodology: Systematic review study based on the PRISMA statement; the literature search was conducted in digital databases, search engines, and institutional websites: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, World Health Organization, and Pan - American Health Organization, considering publications from 2019 to 2023. The inclusion criteria were: quantitative and qualitative data and research in Spanish and English. Results: The mean prevalence of the most common NCDs was 36.5%. The NCDs with grave complications in patients with COVID-19 were respiratory distress, coagulation alteration, heart failure, and severe pneumonia, and the nursing interventions in patients with NCDs and COVID-19 were: hand washing, use of masks, and vaccination. Conclusion: COVID-19 can be especially dangerous for people with comorbidities, generating a high mortality risk.
