- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoRevisión sistemática sobre las características fisiopatológicas y el manejo de la neumonía infantil adquirida en la comunidad(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) López Contreras, Deiver Javier; Quevedo Crespo, María José; 1400749303Introduction: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an infection at a pulmonary level that occurs outside the hospital environment by a pathogen (virus, bacteria) that overcomes the innate defense of the organism and causes the disease, which is characterized by cough, fever, tachypnea, dyspnea. Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the pathophysiological features and management of CAP in the pediatric population. Methodology: This systematic review of cross-sectional descriptive type was performed based on the criteria of the Prisma method, using scientific databases like Scopus, Web of Science, Taylor & Francis, UpToDate, DocPlayer, Elsevier, Redalyc, PubMed and SciELO using keywords from sources such as DeCs and MeSH; obtaining only articles published from 2018 to 2023, in addition only articles from journals with quartile 1 and 2 were chosen, and through the PEDro scale those with a score greater than or equal to 8. Conclusions: Severity scales in pediatric CAP need further field research; diagnosis of pneumonia differs according to age group since there may be differences in symptomatology. Procalcitonin (PCT) is the inflammatory marker with better sensitivity to discriminate and give therapeutic follow-up to bacterial CAP. Treatment in mild CAP can be with low-dose amoxicillin and within five days; it differs according to the antimicrobial resistance that exists in the population.
